He has a genuine and honest way that makes each session enjoyable and motivating.I highly recommend Richard to anyone wanting to learn bass or guitar, beginner or looking to advance!

I am a retired senior high school music teacher, and I have been having guitar lessons with Richard Farmer at Check One Two Guitar Schools for several months now, as I wished to improve my playing technique.I am very happy with Richard as an instructor for students of all ages. He is a very experienced teacher and runs the lessons professionally and interactively. I find Richard very interested in and supportive of me as a student. He has everything at his finger tips in his teaching studio, such as monitors, backing tracks and drum beats to play along with. He provides regular handouts and his lessons are well structured and organised. Richard makes the lessons entertaining, and introduces new material at a pace which I can consolidate on, but is also sufficiently challenging. I have no hesitation in recommending Richard to prospective students.

As an ex-Army veteran, my DVA rehab program recommended that I try to learn an instrument. Being in my late 30's and never having played a string instrument before it was daunting. However, Richard helped handle my PTSD and numerous/frequent hospital visits with care and ease, always providing a supportive environment. I would definitely recommend Check One Two to anyone, regardless of skill level or experience.

I am super happy with my bass guitar lessons from Check One Two Guitar School. After years of owning a bass and trying to self learn I finally decided I should get some official lessons. After a lot of searching I found Richard at Check One Two and honestly, the google reviews don't do him justice.Richard is a great teacher, he is easy to talk to with great lessons and valuable constructive feedback. Each lesson teaches you a little more without pushing too far and it feels more like catching up with a fellow musician than a strict lesson on what is right or wrong.Richard focuses more on developing into a musician rather than learning to play music exactly as the original artist composed a song. This has really helped with my ability to find my own music and express my own creativity. It feels amazing to find out that we all have music within us, and we just need a guide to help us find it.

I’ve been going to check one two guitar school for a few years now and I’ve never had a better experience learning guitar. Richard has helped me gain and understanding of music I would never learnt on my own and has sped up my learning significantly.I would like to thank Richard for helping me with my guitar, and I’m excited to learn more!

I've been trying to learn guitar off & on for the last 55 years, but have always struggled to progress beyond a few simple chords. I've only been taking lessons with Richard for about six weeks but already things are starting to click. Having a professional teacher who is able to identify and address my individual needs and abilities has seen me progress much further than I thought possible in such a short amount of time. I would have no hesitation in recommending Richard to anyone else looking to develop their musical abilities.

When I was 14 I asked my parents to buy me a guitar for my birthday. They bought me a leather school bag instead, talk about disappointment. Fifty years later I bought my own. First a Strat, then a Martin, then another Martin. That was about a year ago.During this time I tried a few teachers. Alas after a few short lessons with each I found myself looking around again. Then I came across Richard at Check One Two and the message on his web site resonated with me, so I booked a lesson. Then two, then three and yes I have found the guitar coach that will take me where I want to go. What I like about Richard is that he is totally professional, I can see that he has a plan for me and he is a no nonsense, totally professional sort of guy. And boy can he make that guitar sing. What I also like is that at every session Richard makes me video him on the days lesson so that I can review it at home. This guitar thing is a little more challenging that I thought it would be, so you need a guy like Richard to guide you through it, or you will soon give it up.I'm no guitar player, but having tried several coaches I can say unequivocally that Richard is the most professional by far. You should try him.PS. Great studio.

Richard has been teaching my son to play guitar for over 3 years. Over this time we have moved lessons from face 2 face to online (due to pandemic). For a young pre-teen one would assume interest would have dropped moving to online, but Richard is so well prepared with lessons - and attentive to the students online ensuring they are engaged and actively involved in the lesson. My son is still very keen to continue to learn with Richard, and enjoys his online lessons. We cannot recommend enough !!!!

Firstly, and to me most importantly, Richard is a really nice fella and easy to get on with. His ability to play the guitar and teach is obvious from the outset.I am a complete novice to the guitar and have put myself into Richard’s hands to show me what I need to know and what I need to do and he has done this with ease. His experience shines through on how organised he is with each lesson plan.I have only been playing for a few months but can already see how far I’ve come, I’m enjoying this journey and am glad that Richard is part of it.

Starting as a total beginner, Richard has been teaching me both in person and online for over 6 months and I have to say it's been fantastic. He is patient person, genuinely warm and a highly skilled musician. Richard's studio is decked out really well and he applies technology to make things sophisticated without being a distraction. All the lessons are fun, upbeat and very engaging as he expresses keen interest in the student. Mixing practice, jams, real music and a bit of theory it's a well rounded education. I don't feel rushed or pressured and am really happy with how I'm progressing thanks to Rich.

Richard has been teaching our 7 year old how to play the Ukulele. Our child enjoys his classes with Richard, he always has fun and has been picking up the music theory and practical skills to play really well through Richard's classes. During Covid lock downs Richard ensured the children kept learning and did online lessons where appropriate and is always happy to provide updates or extra resources should you get stuck. Richard also provides post lesson updates and hints and tips, which have been great. We look forward to the transition from Ukulele to Acoustic Guitar next year. Thanks Richard

Hi all,Recently I was given a gift voucher for guitar lessons with Richard.I was a little concerned as I am a raw beginner and a little older, however I was very pleased to find Richard to be a gracious and welcoming teacher. There is a prepared lesson plan for each week, but at the same time Richard caters to my individual needs and makes the class both interesting and diverse.Right from the start, Richard had me hands on using the guitar and this approach is slowly working and helping me to become familiar with the guitar.Richard is great at picking up when I was trying too hard and made it very clear that the worst thing that could happen is to play a few dud notes. He told me to relax and have fun, which I am trying to do.There is also a small amount of study to complete between classes, for me this is a great approach as it ensures that I pick up the guitar between lessons. This helps with my retention and helps with getting use to using the instrument.I am a late starter and I am happy that I am making progress. Like everything, it is step by step.I have no hesitation in recommending Richard as a guitar teacher and I think you will enjoy your time with him.

I have had guitar lessons with Richard at different stages of my life. Initially, when I was in high school and later on during my adult life. His passion and approachable manner have kept me coming back.No matter what level you are at, Richard is able to teach something new, engage with his students and improve your skillset with his varied activities and the large library of songs he teaches on a regular basis.None of his lessons are dull and he always makes you feel welcome, I couldn't ask more from a teacher. Not to mention, he is as patient as a saint. It is always a fun and rewarding experience with Richard.
